UP Connections Retreat & Year Long Mentorship

Welcome to the University of Portland!

UP Connections is a peer-mentorship program designed to support first generation, multicultural, out of state, LGBTQA+, underrepresented, students of color adjust to their first year in college. All are welcome to participate.

UP Connections provides connections, resources, and tools for incoming first year students. Students are carefully paired with mentors and join a year long mentorship cohort group. These groups meet for social and academic events throughout the academic year. Participants will also get the opportunity to participate in outdoor pursuits group hikies through the program.

There are only 50 spots available and students are registered on a first come, first serve basis. The cost of the program is $150.00 - this includes a 3 day retreat during pre-orientation August 20st-August 22nd held at the Oregon Coast - Rockaway Beach. Meals, transportation, and lodging are included in the cost.

Full attending cost scholarships are available for those with financial need. Requests must be made before you register. Please email Yuri at hernandy@up.edu | phone: 503.943.8198 to get the application. Scholarships are limited, so be sure to make your request as soon as possible.

Please note, if you are a Davis Scholar, you are not eligible for the scholarship described above. Davis scholars ONLY will need to email Yuri at hernandy@up.edu to recieve code and instructions to register.

The retreat will be kicked off with a Welcome Luch for participants and their families/friends/loved ones at 12:00PM on August 20th in the Pilot House. Guests at this lunch will include the mentors, faculty, staff, and supporters. Once you are registered, you will receive more information regarding the Welcome Lunch and how to RSVP.
